christmas card 2011

It's here! Christmas is here!
I can't believe how fast time has gone!
Our cards went out a little late this year.
But we were still excited to send them out for the first time as for our little family of two.
This year has been a busy year of "firsts" and we have loved it!
We are greatly looking forward to next year to see what is in store for us!
Merry Christmas from our home to yours!

Weekend Recap.

We love the weekend in this house.
But seriously, who doesn't.

The weekend started off by enjoying
Chick Fil-A for dinner
by the fire place.
Best weekend starter EVER.

Completed Christmas shopping and wrapping.
And catching up with old friends.
Discovering the best way to cook chicken in the oven
by experimenting and praying the house doesn't burn down.

Much Needed Break.

Thanksgiving this year
we spent it in Denver with Benji's side of the family.
It was a much needed break and getaway from
everything.

It was pretty uneventful and relaxing most of the weekend
until Saturday morning.
When we had to rush Benji to the doctor's office
to get 3 stitches.
He accidentally stepped on a knife and sliced his foot.

(Sorry for those who don't do well with blood!)

I was pretty proud of myself I was able to stay in the room with him
while the doctor was stitching up his foot.
I normally don't do well with anything having to do with blood.

Then that evening we went downtown to see the Lion King Musical.
It was incredible!
If you ever get the chance to see it, TAKE it!

Weekend Recap.

The weekend was spent getting nothing done on the to do list
that needed to get done.
But spending lots of quality time together was definitely accomplished.
And lots of popcorn was eaten.
And catching up on 24 episodes.

Happy Monday.

Important Day.

Today is an important day in
the Grigg household.
There are a lot of important days
in this house.
But this one is especially important.
Well, they kinda all are.

2 years ago today Benji and I went
on our first date.

If someone had told me then where we would be today
I would have definitely not believed them.
I would have probably laughed at them.
But today, I am just amazed at how fast time has gone
and looking forward to the future.

(picture from when we celebrated this especially important day last year)

Ultimate.

And I mean
Extreme Ultimate Frisbee.

This semester, Benji decided to join an ultimate frisbee team.
Last Friday at his game it started snowing,
and they kept playing.
It was freezing.
It was super cold to begin with when the game started,
but then when it started snowing it got even colder.
After the game was over we rushed home and hurried to bed to stay warm.

Festive.

This weekend as we were wandering around Wal-Mart and Target
we had to, of course, look at the Christmas stuff.
We got really festive.
And decided to put up our Christmas tree and put a wreath on the door.
We decided to get a few ornaments from Target
until we get my other holiday decor
that is longing to be put up in the Grigg home
from Utah.

Happy holidays.

I came home to this surprise.
We found the perfect place for it on our photo wall.

Tis the season.

Never Again.

I am on the Relief Society Activity committee at church,
for this month's activity we decided to do a holiday craft.

I found this idea and figured it was pretty simple, even I could manage to do
and teach it to other people.
To save time I volunteered for Benji and I to spray paint all of the bottles
before the activity.
We ended up spray painting 60 bottles.
Never again will be doing that one again.
We had spray paint all over us, all over the house.
EVERYWHERE.

Craving.

One day we were craving pretzel bites.
You know the kind you from the mall.
Nothing was hitting the spot for us.

I found this recipe on Pinterest.
We super excited.

The cinnamon sugar ones with the vanilla glaze
Benji liked the best.
I liked the plain ones with sea salt the best.

Moving up...

Last weekend in our normal Saturday hoop-la
of running errands, we came across this...

I was super excited!
Benji even pulled over to get pictures.
I even called my Mom to tell her it was opening.
She and I used to go to Chick Fil-A all the time,
and I couldn't but share the exciting news with her.

Idaho Falls is slowly moving up in the world.
We WILL be there opening day.

Fall is here.

We turned our heater on today.
It will probably stay on until June.

I am so excited for the fall and the upcoming holidays.
We are excited to start developing our own family traditions.
And decorating our house.

My Mom always go all out when it comes to this time of year
and decorating.
I wish I had a picture of all of her decorations.
I hope to someday be decorate like she does.
It always made all the difference during the holidays.

rearranging.

We decided to do some rearranging Sunday.

Please ignore the wreath.
Its a work in progress.
And a pain to hang up.

Here is what it looked like before.

over the weekend. and week.

Benji's mom and brother
came into town to visit us this past week.
Last Saturday we spent the day in Jackson Hole
with them.
As we were wandering around we went into this store
that was closing and had everything 80% off.
Benji found these red leather pants.
That of course he had to try on.

Then this past weekend we all went down to Utah
for General Conference and to see my sister and her family.
We hadn't seen my sister and her family since February.
I loved being with them.
I wish we had gotten to spend more time together.

Our view from our seats in the Conference center.

Happy 19th.

I hope you had a good day.
I know I sure did.

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

this picture was taken before we were in love.

Dec. 2009

Actually, this is the first picture taken together. ever.
At the end of the semester I wanted to get a picture with Benji
but I wasn't sure how to approach it.
I told one of my roommates I wanted a picture and she simply said just ask him and take a picture.
For some reason I was still really nervous about it.
But I finally asked him. He said no.
And he kept avoiding it.
I told you he was a party pooper.
But then finally right before we left for the semester I had a roommate take some.

But this was before he ever played with my hair at night to fall asleep.
Before he ever saw the truly silly and goofy side of me.
Before we took a ton of pictures in this same pose.
Even with my hand awkwardly stabbing his stomach.
Before he realized I am an anal clean freak.
Before he taught me to embrace different kinds of people, and things.
Before we ever had a disagreement and then came to understand each other.
Before we had all of our inside jokes between each other.
Before we realized, we are very much different from each other
and it doesn't really matter.
Before so many things, that have made us today.
So glad that we are a "we".
So glad we are more than just husband and wife,
but we are best friends.

Weekend Recap.

Friday night was date night.
Johnny Carino's for dinner.
And Colombiana later.

Saturday was exploring day.
For my birthday last year Benji and I went to see two waterfalls
north of Rexburg, called Mesa Falls.
While we were there we went on a little walk
had a picnic and craved our initials in a tree.
Earlier, this week we had the idea to go back to find
our tree to see what the craving looked like.

Last year.                                                                                                          On Saturday.

First Day of School.

Today is the first day of school.
For Benji.
It still feels weird being out of school.

Saturday, after we went exploring we stopped in
Rexburg and saw some of Benji's friends.
We went to the apartment complex that I lived in for 3 years.
It felt interesting to be back there
and see so many people moving in and remember all the times I moved in.

Benji wouldn't let me take a picture as he was leaving for school.
Like you used to do in elementary school.
He is a party pooper.
Here is one Cassie took for us.

Weekend Recap.

Saturday after driving down to Utah
I spent the afternoon with my Dad and brother.
I am always entertained by the conversations
that happen with my brother around.

As we were leaving church on Sunday
two people in a row made comments
about my brother and I being married.
It was awkward.

Sunday evening I picked Benji up from the airport.
Post and pictures soon to come.
On the drive back he talked me ear off with stories.
He even made a list of all the things he wanted to tell me about.
Very unlike my husband.
It made me laugh.

Monday morning was spent going back to school shopping
for Benji.
I actually got more stuff than he did.
Our loot.

For lunch before we left we went to my Uncle's house.
My cousin asked Benji for them to shoot his BB gun together.

Benji and Garion wearing their safety glasses.
Can never be too careful?
I guess.

Expressions of Love.

Make them frequent.
They mean more than anything.

Destination Date.

Benji went to Dallas to see Steffen this week.
I knew he was going to a have hard time leaving him
when the time came.

So, I wanted to come up with something for us to do
after he got back.

I made a list of possible places to eat and for dessert and something for us to do.
Then I came up with a symbol that represented each place.
I tried really hard to come up with symbols that would not give
it away easily.

Then Benji got to pick where we ate, what we did, and what would be for dessert.

The dessert options.

Dinner options.

Our activity options.

What he ended up choosing.
Which consists of frozen yogurt, a new restaurant we haven't tried yet,
and golfing.

August Favorites.

I just realized our previous post was the 100th post!
That is pretty exciting!

As I mentioned here this month has been
busy and pretty lame.

Benji has officially stopped working
at Olive Garden.
He is super excited to be able to just focus on school!
I am excited for us to be on the same schedule as each other!
We definitely loved that about this month!

Benji has been begging for new cologne
and he finally was able to decide on some we both liked.
And we love it!
It is the Gucci Guilty.

Guilty Pour Homme

While we were in Jackson here
we came across this perfume for me that we both
really liked and it has been this past month I have really gotten into it.
It is the Apothia Pearl.

We have enjoyed spending the last month exploring
and doing new things around our house
but we or I am so ready for fall to be here!
We already have a ton going on in September that we are excited for!

Date Night.

After Benji got finished with his LAST shift at
Olive Garden.
The evening was spent spending time making a lazy dinner
and wandering around the mall
trying to see how much 25 cent candy and gumballs
we could fit in our mouth at once.
